Volunteering is generally considered a selfless activity where an individual or group provides services for no financial gain. Volunteering is also renowned for skill development, and is often intended to promote goodness or to improve human quality of life. Studies show that regular volunteer activity can have a positive effect on mental and physical health.

Canadian Mental Health Association of New Brunswick recognizes the important role volunteers play in our organization and our community. Without the dedication of these volunteers, many programs offered throughout the province of NB would not be possible. We truly appreciate the dedication and initiative of our volunteers who unselfishly contribute their time and energy to further our mission.
Volunteering is about giving, contributing and helping other individuals and the community at large; it is working with others to make a meaningful contribution to a better community. People volunteer for different reasons. Many want to gain experience, acquire new skills, meet new people or expand their network of contacts. Others just want to give back to their community, to help someone or to promote a worthwhile activity. They volunteer because it makes them feel good. Volunteers of Canadian Mental Health Association of New Brunswick say they volunteer because they recognize the importance of the programs and the overall contribution to their community.
