The title sums up our story. Resilience. It is a story that unfolds through what has been a time of extremes. Of extreme national anxiety and fear. Of extreme social isolation for so many. Of extreme uncertainty for all of us. The mental health needs in our country have never been more urgent.
That is why, amid all the turmoil and confusion, we pushed hard and strong for mental health system transformation, because this is the time to fix the system. That is why we sounded the alarm on an echo pandemic of mental health issues. It is why we expanded our virtual mental health supports, launched new programs and did original research exposing the effects of the pandemic on our most vulnerable.
It has been said many times, but I think it bears repeating: we are all in this together. Not only in the struggles we face as a country, but in our shared work. We are grateful to our donors, partners, members, allies, supporters – and to you, our federation partners. You have contributed to our resilience at National Office, so that we could promote the resilience of people in Canada. And also their recovery.
