Ricky’s Story
Ricky served 12 years in the military but unfortunately was not able to finish his career in green as he was hurt in a vehicle accident was unfit for duty but he finished his career as a civilian with DND and got to see first-hand the damages of war on our soldiers and was able to put it into words. “Troubled Mind of a Damaged Man” is about some things soldiers go through and how it effects them.
Music takes Ricky to a place of comfort. It gives him some place to voice his feelings without feeling naked and vulnerable. Music connects people in ways that speaking cannot and the only time Ricky feels he can speak his mind is through his music.
“I do miss who I used to be but I get up each and every day and try to put my best foot forward and make today a bit better than yesterday. Music is what I look forward to. It’s truly medicine for the soul” – Ricky
Lyrics
From the outside looking in
Only they know where they’ve been
We see them come and we see them go
Their darkest days we’ll never know
Chorus
So, to all I ask of you
To have a heart for someone blue
We’ll never know or understand
The troubled mind of a damaged man
Waking up each and every night
In that moment and ready to fight
Even though these days are gone
Them haunting memories linger on
Chorus
Enlisted kids some could call men
And for too many would be their end
Young, innocent souls but not for long
They’d grow up fast and move on
Chorus
I suppose it’s what they chose
The price they pay, we’ll never know
So, one small prayer for them lost souls
That lose their way out of control
Chorus x 2
